8,051 m

SafarGB arranges the Pakistani side of Broad Peak expeditions from Skardu: royalty and permit paperwork, the liaison officer, porter crews for the Baltoro approach, base camp logistics, cooks and supply runs, and hotels and transport at both ends. Guiding teams, high-altitude porter support and oxygen are agreed in writing for each expedition, so every climber knows exactly what is and isn't included before paying anything. Broad Peak (8,051 m, also listed as 8,047 m) faces K2 across the Godwin-Austen Glacier; expeditions take 42–46 days from Islamabad, with summit bids in the second half of July.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How much does it cost to climb Broad Peak?

Published 2027 prices run from $15,450 for SummitClimb's basic service, without a Sherpa or oxygen, to $52,500 with Madison Mountaineering, which includes Sherpas and oxygen. Imagine Nepal's package with a personal climbing Sherpa and two oxygen bottles costs $30,000. A Pakistani operator's base camp service starts at about $5,500 per climber, before the royalty and a liaison officer that one operator puts at about $4,000 per team. The government royalty is $2,500 per climber in summer. We quote each expedition individually once the team size, guiding and oxygen plan are agreed.

How dangerous is Broad Peak?

Seriously. On 30 July 2026, at about 9:30 in the morning, an avalanche on the normal route between Camps 2 and 3, at about 6,600 m, killed all ten climbers it caught: the worst accident in the mountain's history. It came after about a week of heavy snow, when most teams had already left base camp. The route's other hazards are rockfall on the slopes to Camp 1, hidden crevasses higher up and a long summit ridge, where many climbers stop at the Rocky Summit. Before 2026, ExplorersWeb counted about eight deaths for every 100 summits.

How long does a Broad Peak expedition take?

Most run 42–46 days from Islamabad. After the flight to Skardu, a jeep takes 6–8 hours to Askole, and the walk up the Baltoro to base camp takes six or seven days. Teams reach base camp in late June or early July, spend three to four weeks on the mountain and usually make their summit bids in the second half of July.
